TERROR MFG.
San Diego, CA
Terror Mfg. is a streetwear brand based in San Diego, California. Here's what the young brand owner had to say about how it got started, the brands he worked on before Terror, where he gets his inspiration for his undeniably clean, must cop designs, what the people should look forward to and more.
How/when did it get started?
Making clothes has always been something I loved, it goes back all the way back to the end of middle school around 4 years ago, I had a brand with my homie we would just put some shitty drawings and shit on shirts hahah. I've had multiple brands over the span of a few years never really figured out like a name and style I wanted to stick with and backed 100%, so Terror has only been around for a few months since like this summer but the original name for Terror was Anarchy, which started in February of 2016.
As a young kid, did you ever see yourself pursuing something in terms of fashion/clothing?
Honestly yea, I've always been into clothes It's always been interesting to me and when I started making "designs" in middle school I always wondered how far I could get with it. And I've also always liked product and shit, I would watch people go into like these huge skate companies' warehouses and I'd just be so interested in all the product they have in their warehouses.
Who inspires you in what you do?
Zac from FTP, Adam from Foulplay, Chris from LXRDKNOWS, Chris from BDF, Phil from Dertbag, Vincente from Unico and just a whole bunch of other people. These guys put a ton of work into their brands and it definitely shows. Also people who be doing everything themselves, like Gavin from FISHER, from printing to designing to shooting pictures for your clothes and shit. That shit is crazy
Do you see the brand going into the mainstream or staying more underground? Would you want to keep it more exclusive or easily accessible?
Nah hahah I never imagine going mainstream, I only want people who really want it to have it.
Is there any brand or artist you hope to collab with one day? Why?
I'm not sure honestly, like obviously collabing with like the big brands like FTP, Foulplay, Dertbag and all of them would be crazy. Also the smaller brands like Fisher, BDF, Thirteen Deaths and like other homies doing cool shit with small brands would be tight
What do you usually draw inspiration from?
Inspirations for designs really just come from my thoughts and emotions. I also be getting ideas from like movies and old documentaries. But for the most part it's all from my head and how I'm feeling or what I'm thinking about in the moment.
What are somethings people should look forward to?
Man, I've been putting out so much cool shit this year. I've done 1 drop every month since like March, done a bunch of graphic tees. I have a couple more releases planned then Ima take a break from releasing shit for a couple months and release a collection at the beginning of next year. Before that though I got some new logo tees late October. Then in November I got a crazy ass collab with my good homie Chris from BDF, shits insane. Stay tuned.
What's some advice you can give to people who are also trying to pursue a career as a clothing designer/brand owner?
Don't do this unless you really have a love for it. And also be as original as possible, I know it's hard when you love a clothing brand and you want to be like them but if you're not original you won't go anywhere. And also just be patient because growing a brand takes time and it gets frustrating but don't give up.
Where can people find your stuff?
